Punters have been heaping plenty of cash on the Grand National betting market. The showpiece race takes place on Saturday at Aintree Racecouse.
The final declarations are expected on Thursday, with a maximum of 34 horses set to line up for the prestigious race.
There are plenty of horses vying for favouritism, including last year's winner I Am Maximus who is bidding to win back-to-back Nationals.
It has joined Iroko and Stumptown as the 8/1 joint-favourite in Betfred’s market, after being the most backed horse in the past 24 hours.
Betfred’s Robert Ford said: “In the past week, the top spot of our market for this prestigious race has seen continuous change. Last year’s winner I Am Maximus, who’s on the hunt to become the first horse since Tiger Roll in 2018 and 2019 to win the Grand National in consecutive years, is into 8/1 joint-favourite alongside JP McManus’ Iroko and Stumpton, the Cross Country Chase winner at March’s Cheltenham Festival. I Am Maximus has been our most backed horse in the past 24 hours*.
“Trailing the trio in the market is one-time 6/1 favourite Intense Raffles at 10/1. Hewick and Vanillier are both at the same price, having been cut from 11/1 and 12/1, respectively. Plenty of movement should be expected over the next few days leading up to Saturday’s race, with all six of these horses considered genuine contenders.”
